Fans Hail Azzi Fudd As UConn Star Channels Her Inner Stephen Curry

Scoring 14 points, Azzi Fudd led the UConn Huskies to a dominating 92-52 win over the Seton Hall Pirates. With this, the Huskies improved to 21-0 in the season and are one of the top-performing teams in the Big East. One of the highlights of this game was Fudd’s three-pointers, drilling three of her four attempted triples.

Fudd’s off-ball capabilities are drawing many eyeballs, especially her catch-and-shoot from the perimeter and the key, which is drawing comparisons to none other than Stephen Curry. She didn’t miss her first shot until there were 5:54 left in the first half. The Huskies shot 61% from the field and managed to win their 43rd matchup against the Pirates.

Fudd’s catch-and-shoot abilities have fans applauding the Huskies senior, drawing praise on the internet. One fan wrote:

“Knees already bent 2ft behind the arc BEFORE she receives a bounce pass that reaches her towards the back of her left hip, and yet it’s still one fluid motion that results in nothing but net. No 2nd bend, no side-step. PURE. SHOOTER.👌🏽”

    Another fan added:

“the difference between her first 3PM and her third 3PM… again all it takes is one to go in. they went from ‘nah she’s in a slump’ to ‘oh sh*t it’s azzi fudd.’”

    This fan added:

“Stop leaving an open Azzi Fudd with no ball in her hands.”

    Another fan wrote:

“give me azzi ‘audacious’ fudd rn. we done playing nice.”

This fan compared Azzi Fudd and Blanca Quiñonez to Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant during their prime Laker days using a GIF.

    Another fan wrote:

“UConn runs plenty of off-ball screens to give Azzi Fudd the space she needs to get her shots off. But it’s not like she needs a ton of space to begin with, right?”

The official UConn Huskies X page commented:

“Azzi Fudd is in double digits and hasn’t missed a shot today!”

Azzi Fudd has been shooting 43.6% from beyond the arc this season and is currently among the top shooters in the nation. In the 2024-25 season, she set a career-high with eight triples in a single game against St. John’s. She continues to lead the way for the Huskies as one of the favorites to win the Wooden Award this season.

Azzi Fudd Receives Love From Fans as She Returns to Her Hometown

    Azzi Fudd returned to the Washington Mystics’ arena for her final hometown game as a UConn Husky. The top-ranked team remained undefeated with a dominant win over Georgetown, though Fudd didn’t quite hit many triples in that game. Nevertheless, she scored in double digits to seal the deal. Fudd embraced the moment with her family and reflected on her local roots. She said;

“I was actually watching one of my old high school games over break and the team we were playing against, it was like five D-I players. To look at that and to see just, like, that’s who you’re competing against…That’s not something a lot of players get to experience in high school.”

Fudd struggled early from deep but finished with 19 points and a strong all-around game. She has evolved significantly since overcoming early injuries and winning a national title. Reflecting on Fudd’s maturity and ability to handle immense pressure, head coach Geno Auriemma said:

“I get a lot of satisfaction when you see a player, even freshman year, whenever it was, and everybody starts telling you how much potential this kid has… And sometimes that puts a lot of pressure on someone to have to try to live up to those things. And it can go sideways and it gets to them. She’s managed to handle it all exceptionally well.”
