South Carolina Gamecocks senior Raven Johnson is continuing her poised performances, with her most recent outing garnering respect from fans. On Thursday, Jan. 15, Johnson and the rest of Dawn Staley‘s Gamecocks team faced Vic Schaefer’s Texas Longhorns at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina.
While a good number of players from the South Carolina-based program played well throughout the intense matchup, it was Johnson who stole the show with her performance in the dying minutes of the game. The Gamecocks went back-and-forth for the majority of the game against the Longhorns, but it was Johnson’s timely plays and clutch shots in the fourth quarter that sealed the deal for her squad.

The Gamecocks, fueled by Johnson’s play, eventually defeated the Longhorns 68-65. South Carolina improves to an overall record of 18-1 (5-0 SEC) and will look to continue their winning ways on Sunday, Jan. 18, against the Coppin State Eagles at Physical Education Complex in Baltimore, Maryland.

As mentioned, Raven Johnson took control of crunch time against the Texas Longhorns. This is because, with 25 seconds left in the matchup, Johnson sized up her defender and took a jump shot within 10 feet of the rim that eventually went in, giving the South Carolina Gamecocks a five-point cushion, 66-61, at that time.
Johnson finished the game with 10 points, four rebounds, six assists, and a block.
