There are no South Carolina players entering the transfer portal. However, Dawn Staley’s Gamecocks are welcoming a few players to their ranks for next season.
5-star recruit Jerzy Robinson committed to the Gamecocks over UConn and LSU. Kelsi Andrews and Kaeli Wynn have also committed to South Carolina. The latest addition has joined from their SEC rivals, and Dawn Staley is one happy coach. She welcomed Texas transfer Jordan Lee, as Vic Schaefer’s guard confirmed her commitment.
“A birdie just flew in the nest!!” Coach Staley posted on her X account with a GIF of a cock fluttering.
South Carolina has had to deal with the inevitable departures of the seniors. Raven Johnson, Madina Okot, Ta’Niya Latson, and Maryam Dauda all got picked in the WNBA Draft.
Fans react to Dawn Staley’s message for Jordan Lee
Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks reached the national championship game for two years in a row. Coach Staley has made it a normal occurrence and expectation for the Gamecocks to reach the marquee matchups and excel.
However, the last two years of NCAA final appearances would have hurt Dawn. South Carolina has now lost two NCAA finals in a row, last year to Geno Auriemma’s UConn Huskies and this year to Cori Close’s UCLA.
Fans online were confused but excited to see Dawn Staley’s reaction.
“SC fans stand up 1/3 is officially a gamecock ! Olivia Edwards Jordan Lee Or Kymora Johnson,” one fan speculated.
“WE GOT JORDAN!!!!!!! WE GOT JORDAN!!!!!!” one fan exclaimed.
“I’m thinking it’s either Kymora, Jordan or Big Oh,” another predicted.
“My favorite tweet ever,” another fan said.
“Yeah bc let’s get back to what matters,” another commented.
“Texas ladies Basketball coaching staff is loosing their minds right now. Jordan Lee to SC,” another fan claimed.
