Dawn Staley And South Carolina’s Final Four Run Makes SEC History

After a successful regular season, Dawn Staley’s South Carolina has only gotten more dominant and has now made SEC history.

South Carolina has outscored their opponents by 161 points in the NCAA tournament. This is the largest points differential entering the Final Four in SEC history. Here are their NCAA Tournament wins:

First round – South Carolina won 103-34 vs Southern U

Second Round – South Carolina won 101-61 vs USC

Sweet 16 – South Carolina won 94-68 vs Oklahoma

Elite Eight – South Carolina won 78-52 vs TCU

Dawn Staley’s South Carolina has advanced to the Final Four for the eighth time. This is also the sixth consecutive season in which Staley’s team has reached the Final Four.

They crushed Olivia Miles’ TCU Horned Frogs 78-52 in the Elite Eight showdown. With Raven Johnson, Tessa Johnson, Ta’Niya Latson, and Madina Okot all finding their moments during the tournament, freshman Agot Makeer’s moment came in the Elite Eight.

With so many talented players and the leadership of Dawn Staley, dominance is the word that people have always associated with South Carolina. This season, the Gamecocks have only lost three games. They had a record of 35-3 overall. They only lost one game in the SEC, with 15 wins.

Fans react to South Carolina making SEC history

Now the Gamecocks are set to face the UConn Huskies in the Final Four. Geno Auriemma and Dawn Staley meet again after the Huskies won last year’s national championship final. South Carolina would be looking for revenge this season against an unbeaten UConn team.

Fans online were elated to see the Gamecocks’ success and celebrated the Final Four run.

“Let’s add to it on Friday,” one fan showed energy for Final Four.

“Not bad for a ‘down year,'” another fan said sarcastically.

“Great! So now let’s go outscore the next 2 opponents,” another commented.

“ESPN literally started our game 20 minutes late so they could give Texas its own segment on how they broke the record but silence once we broke it,” one fan complained.

“I know it hurts them to have to post this instead of Texas lol,” another fan claimed.
