Dawn Staley has built a formidable program ever since she joined South Carolina in 2008. She has won 3 NCAA titles in her time and has developed multiple great players. Top of the list obviously being A’ja Wilson, who broke all barriers and records to become one of the greatest women’s basketball players ever.

Dawn Staley has always been known for taking talented players to the next level and having underrated players be important in marquee situations to get the best out of them.
This is what happened when freshman Agot Makeer stepped up in one of the most crucial situations South Carolina has been in this season. The Gamecocks were playing well and had the game under control; however, Olivia Miles’ performance did make it a little difficult. That’s when Agot Makeer’s supportive role proved to be important.
After the game, Makeer was asked about how it feels to play under Dawn Staley. Her answer was just another piece of evidence of why South Carolina is called Coach Staley’s daycare.
“I mean, I feel like it’s super cool. A lot of people in the outside world always ask me like questions, she’s like a celebrity now. But like, she’s like in our life every single day. She plays every figure. Coach, mother, like everything in our lives. So I think her impact is not just on the court but off the court as well. And I think that’s the best part,” Makeer said.
