Azzi Fudd Jokingly Calls Out “Nosy” Journalist; Reveals 1 Thing UConn Needs to Win the NCAA Title

UConn Huskies guard Azzi Fudd had jokes for a journalist during her most recent interview after she was asked about a personal activity amid the national tournament.

On Thursday, March 26, Fudd had a media availability in her team’s locker room after a Huskies open practice session ahead of their Sweet 16 game in the March Madness.

In a video uploaded by @thedailywsports on Instagram, Fudd was asked by one of the reporters about a book she is apparently reading, entitled “Get Your Spirit Back” by Earl McClellan. The reporter was going to ask her another question, but Fudd interrupted and jokingly called them out for looking into her bag.

“ I noticed that you’re reading ‘Get Your Spirit Back.’ What are you actually…” the reporter said.

    Fudd jokingly responded, saying:

“Not you looking in my bag.”

    The reporter said:

“Right? I know I’m so nosy.”

Answering the reporter’s question, Fudd revealed one factor that can help UConn win back-to-back national titles.

“ I know how important your mindset is, especially at this time of the year. I mean, when you make it this far, the 16 of the best teams in the country are left. So what’s gonna differentiate you from the other teams is your mind and your team’s mind as a collective unit. Just all the little things like everyone’s talented, everyone’s, you know, beat up, but in great shape and strong and all those things,” she explained (0:33). “So right now, it’s super important that all of our minds are in the best possible space.”

As it stands, Fudd and the rest of coach Geno Auriemma‘s Huskies squad are preparing for their Sweet 16 matchup in this year’s NCAA tournament. They are scheduled to duke it out against coach Courtney Banghart’s North Carolina Tar Heels on Friday, March 27, in neutral territory, the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

Azzi Fudd Has Not Actually Read The Book “Get Your Spirit Back”

In the aforementioned clip from her most recent media availability, Azzi Fudd revealed that she has not actually read the book “Get Your Spirit Back.”

The fifth-year standout shared that it was gifted by a fan, and even thanked the fan during her answer if they were watching. But Fudd affirmed that she is excited to read it.

“ I actually, so I haven’t started it yet. I just bought it. I was gifted it from someone named Samantha. Samantha, if you’re listening, thank you. I’m super excited to read it,” Fudd said (0:22).
