Audi Crooks Trails Just A’ja Wilson, Aliyah Boston After New NIL Deal With Oklahoma State

In under a week of the transfer portal, Audi Crooks has announced her commitment to the Oklahoma State Cowgirls. The 6’3 center will be playing her final year of eligibility, and her senior season under the leadership of coach Jacie Hoyt. After growing her stature at Iowa State, Crooks is about to make history after joining Oklahoma State.

According to reports, Iowa State transfer Crooks is set to earn $1.4 million in NIL after signing with Oklahoma State. As it turns out, her $1.4 million payday is about to shake up women’s basketball. She is about to become the third-highest-paid women’s basketball player, and that includes WNBA.

The only two players who will earn more than Crooks are Aces’ A’ja Wilson and Indiana Fever’s Aliyah Boston. Wilson is set to earn $5 million in three years, as per the supermax contract extension, making it $1.67 million per year. As for Aliyah, according to the recent contract extension, she is set to earn $6.3 million in four years, making it $1.5 million per year.

Fans react to Audi Crooks becoming the third-highest-paid player behind A’ja Wilson and Aliyah Boston

Audi Crooks entered the transfer portal after a disappointing season for Iowa State. While individually, it was the best season of Crooks’ college career, Iowa State failed in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. As a result, nine Iowa State Cyclone players entered the transfer portal.

Fans online wondered about the legitimacy of the report of Crooks becoming the third-highest-paid player.

“I heard $500,000 earlier. Now it’s over a million?” one fan asked.

“As an Oklahoma state diehard fan I’m so conflicted. This is incredible for WBB absolutely But…. Should this money have gone to football???” another fan wondered.

“1.4Ms for no defense and 40 point games v non-conference opponents… next,” one fan expressed disappointment.

“Casuals will tell you that this proves WNBA players are underpaid. The correct answer for why this is that the WNBA has terrible marketing and culture and is not an appealing product for sports fans the way the college basketball is even though the WNBA has superior players,” another explained.

“She’s well worth it. Fundamentally sound with fierce competitiveness,” one fan appreciated the transfer.

“She a dawg on the court but 1.4 m’s,” another questioned.
