Angel Reese’s Latest WNBA Achievement Draws Hearty Appreciation From LSU HC Kim Mulkey

Angel Reese returned to Chicago for the first time since her trade to Atlanta in April this year. Reese played two seasons for the Chicago Sky, averaging a double-double, and she has been doing the same for the Dream.

Playing her first game in Chicago after the trade, Reese registered 17 points and 17 rebounds. She shot 5 of 12 from the field and also added four assists and two steals to her tally as the Dream won 82-75.

This was Reese’s fifth consecutive double-double performance and eighth overall in 11 games this season so far. The 24-year-old made history with her game-winning performance and tied Blake Griffin for the most double-doubles in the first 75 career games with 57.

The only player ahead of Reese is NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal with 63 double-doubles in his first 75 games. Reese’s WNBA achievement was celebrated by her former LSU head coach, Kim Mulkey. She reposted the ESPNW graphic on her Instagram story and tagged the Dream star with a heart emoji.

Reese is the only WNBA player on the list, and she is ahead of Tim Duncan and David Robinson with 53 games each. The double-double record isn’t surprising because Reese has been averaging 14 points and 12.8 rebounds per game in her career.

While the record is impressive, Reese’s scoring efficiency is still a major concern. In her first WNBA season, she shot just 39% from the field. In the current season, she is shooting over 41%. Notably, Reese is not known for her three-point shooting.

As for her rebounding skills, she is averaging 5.5 offensive rebounds and 6.6 defensive rebounds per game this season.

Angel Reese Only Cares About Winning

Angel Reese already has a stacked resume with an NCAA title, NCAA Tournament MOP, Unrivaled Championship, Unrivaled Defensive Player of the Year, two-time WNBA rebounding leader, and more.

As she continues to secure more records under her name, Reese’s primary focus is winning games for her team. After the Chicago game, she was asked about the new record.

“I mean, it doesn’t matter unless I get a win,” she said. “I was able to get a lot of double-doubles my first two years (in Chicago), but it feels good when you get a win. So, I’m really happy to be with the Dream. I’m really excited, and we continue to march on for this Commissioner Cup.”

Reese’s team is currently third in the league with eight wins and three losses.
