“You’re Openly Condoning Violence?”: Fans Furious After Caitlin Clark’s Injury Seemingly Gets Trolled by Mercury

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark suffered an injury and had to leave the court during their 111-109 loss to the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday.

Clark was involved in multiple skirmishes with Mercury players during the game. Phoenix’s Alyssa Thomas appeared to knee Clark in the stomach and push her fist into the Fever star’s neck after fighting for possession. Clark was seen grimacing in pain after the altercation. She was then fouled on a 3-point attempt and landed awkwardly. She left the game in the third quarter.

This was the second game between the two teams in the space of a few days. The Fever defeated the Mercury on Monday, a game in which Clark got into a heated altercation with DeWanna Bonner.

After the Mercury bounced back with a win on Wednesday, they seemingly trolled Clark. Phoenix posted a graphic of a Fever player on the floor in the same position as Clark during the game. While the jersey number on the graphic (24) did not match that of Clark’s (22), it seemingly appeared to be a shot at the star guard.

This was not well received by fans, who criticized Phoenix’s post.

Caitlin Clark’s altercation with DeWanna Bonner in Monday’s game

Before the Mercury’s 111-109 win vs the Fever on Wednesday, Caitlin Clark’s team got the better of Phoenix on Monday. The Fever won 86-77 in a game that also had drama between Caitlin Clark and Phoenix players.

After a foul was called in the fourth quarter, Clark got tangled up with Bonner. Clark then clapped enthusiastically and was issued a technical foul. Her teammate Sophie Cunningham also got into it with Bonner, and both of them received technical fouls.

“I got a technical for clapping. We should all just go on the calendar now and pick a game that I’m going to be suspended for if I’m gonna get technicals for clapping,” Clark told reporters after the game.
