WNBA Reporter Tears Into Fever Coaching Decisions After Caitlin Clark’s Hot Start Goes to Waste

Caitlin Clark’s last outing against the Portland Fire is sure to give rise to several questions among fans. In one of the worst games of her pro career thus far, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year scored just six points and six assists in 22 minutes. WNBA analyst Rosalina Lee opened up her thoughts on Clark’s performance.

The Fever have now lost back-to-back games after the team’s loss to the Fire, 100-84. However, more than the loss, the Fever’s offense and defense were all over the place. On the other hand, the win was a big deal for the Fire, an expansion team, to the extent that Megan Gustafson got emotional in her post-game media session.

Lee berated Clark for her offensive struggles in the game and wondered if she was completely healthy. The analyst said:

“It does make me wonder if she’s fully healthy. It does seem to me she’s been asking for subs more often. She is getting subbed out very early in games.”

Clark was earlier dropped from the roster at the last moment against the Fire in their first matchup this season. Head coach Stephanie White also came under scrutiny for her last-minute call, citing back soreness.

Lee questioned the coaching team’s call to let her play, as she hasn’t looked comfortable, considering her offensive production thus far. She missed the entire last season due to a groin injury. Meanwhile, the WNBAA analyst also talked about the recent media coverage of Clark.

WNBA analyst calls popular article on Caitlin Clark “horrible”

An article on Caitlin Clark recently went viral after several analysts and fans took notice of the writer’s opinions. The piece openly called out the superstar guard for flopping and talking rudely to officials. It labeled Clark’s verbal scuffles with refs as “tantrums.”

Rosalina Lee also referred to the popular USA Today Sports article that went viral and attracted a lot of opinions on social media. She added:

“The media gonna have a field day with this one, especially after that horrible hit piece that came out on her. That was like some of the most biased reporting I’ve ever seen.”

The analyst called out the WNBA media for “bias” and said:

“The WNBA media with its bias does get a little annoying at times.”

Clark and her teammate, Aliyah Boston, have expressed their disagreements with ref calls in post-game sessions. The 2023 WNBA ROTY, after the Fever’s loss to the Golden State Valkyries, earlier said that it was difficult for her to get in rhythm, amid the uncertainty of how the fouls were called.

The Fever’s 16-point loss to the Fire is sure to garner criticism from the WNBA world. Clark’s offensive struggles, coupled with her constant crying to refs about fouls, seemed to have increased her issues this season.
