WNBA Reporter Calls Out Selective Outrage After Raven Johnson Faces Criticism for Celebrating Caitlin Clark’s Latest Milestone

Raven Johnson showed love to her teammate Caitlin Clark after the Indiana Fever superstar recieved her third nod for the WNBA All-Star team. However, fans did not like the rookie backing Clark for her latest achievement, as she recieved several hate comments. Excessive criticism has been the hot topic in the WNBA world since Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas revealed the death threats she recieved after the Caitlin Clark saga. And when Johnson was subjected to similar comments, a WNBA analyst stood up for her.

Johnson and Clark shared a few altercations on the court as rivals in college. There were speculations before Johnson was drafted by the Fever in the 2026 WNBA draft about how the relationship would pan out. However, the rookie’s latest celebration on social media for Clark’s All-Star nod has put all the rumors to rest.

On a team video shared by the Fever on X, Johnson labeled Clark with several monikers, saying:

“Caitlin Clark, my sister, my cousin, my auntie, my mamacita, my friend…”

However, a section of fans did not like Johnson’s comments about Clark and subjected her to racist remarks in the comments. WNBA reporter Robin Lundberg was furious over the comments and called out the selective outrage of fans, referring to the limelight that Thomas’ criticism brought. He wrote:

“No one gives a crap when anyone involved with Caitlin Clark and the Fever are on the receiving end of nonsense. Props to Raven Johnson she has strong character. But we have to stop giving life to this across the board. It’s not real life.”

Clark, during the Fever’s media session during practice, stood in solidarity with Thomas and any other player who is on the receiving end of such comments and threats on social media.

Raven Johnson has made her mark on a star-studded Fever lineup

Raven Johnson has made her place on the Indiana Fever team, which is heavily dependent on its Big 3. She has played all her games off the bench, and her best one came early in the season against the Golden State Valkyries on May 28. She contributed 16 points in 21 minutes.

With Clark out of the roster for a few games, Johnson’s role is sure to expand on the team. The rookie’s best game in terms of assists came recently against the Mercury on June 24, in which she dished out seven assists. With her support for Clark, she has also shown her character off the court.
