“Should Be Put in a Straight Jacket and Locked Up”: Dave Portnoy Bluntly Calls Out Communist Over Caitlin Clark Remark

Dave Portnoy has expressed his admiration for Caitlin Clark time and time again, consistently defending her against critics without hesitation.

So, when USA Today’s Nancy Armour criticized Clark in a column on Wednesday, calling the former No. 1 pick’s “flopping” as “dangerous” because the actions generate outrage that puts Black and queer players at risk, Dave Portnoy went off on X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday.

“Congrats to USA Today’s Nancy Armour! She has written the dumbest paragraph not only of my lifetime but in the history of sports,” the Barstool chief tweeted, alongside a screen grab of the section in question.

“This is an article that says @CaitlinClark22 argues that calls have become dangerous for the @wnba and civil rights. Nancy Armour should be put in a straitjacket and locked up. We can’t have these types of smooth brains roaming freely in society.’

Dave Portnoy Grills Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for Denying Caitlin Clark As WNBA’s Face

NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar sparked massive debate last week when he said that calling Caitlin Clark the face of the WNBA would be disrespectful to the other great players in the league.

Portnoy took a stand for Clark on X, sharing his thoughts on Abdul-Jabbar’s statement.

“Let’s keep in mind, Caitlin didn’t ask for this. She’s never said she was the face of the league. She’s always shown respect for those who came before her. She could squash this league like a bug if she started her own league. When she was asked to do the NBA 3pt contest, she said she wanted to do the WNBA one 1st. She has fought for players’ salaries. But she is by far the most popular player in the league across every metric. The market dictates who the face of the league is, and it’s clearly Caitlin. This argument makes zero sense and is just steeped in jealousy and stupidity.“ Portnoy wrote.

Along with Portnoy, other analysts like LeSean “Shady” McCoy disagreed with Abdul-Jabbar’s comments.
