Olivia Miles is having an ideal rookie season. She is not only just competing for the Rookie of the Year, but is also at a good position in the MVP race. She has helped the Minnesota Lynx to the top spot in the league table. Miles has already broken multiple rookie and franchise records.
After the Lynx’s last game vs the Seattle Storm, Miles has now surpassed both Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers for another impressive feat. The Rookie of the Year winners from last two seasons both set a record to become the fastest players to reach 500 points and 150 assists. Miles took just 26 games to reach that feat, while Bueckers previous held the record with 28 games and Clark with 29 games.
Olivia Miles is averaging 19.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists in 26 games in her rookie season. She is a favorite to win the Rookie of the Year over Azzi Fudd, Flau’jae Johnson, Kiki Rice, Awa Fam and more.
Olivia Miles’ Lynx complete the double over the Storm
The Lynx and the Storm faced each other twice in the last three days. The first game took place on July 21 while the second one was played on July 23. The Lynx won away from home in both occasions. The first game ended 105-102 in Minnesota’s favor while the second game ended 86-76.
First game was dominated by Olivia Miles and Kayla McBride. Miles scored 32 points with 8 rebounds and 8 assists. McBride had 33 points. Miles joined only Maya Moore and Napheesa Collier to have a 30+ points, 5+ rebounds and 5+ assists game in Lynx history.
Second game was headlined by Napheesa Collier. The WNBA veteran made her return from a long time injury and had an outstanding double-double. She scored 24 points with 10 rebounds in 22 minutes guiding the Lynx to a comfortable win to complete the double over the Storm.
