“She Is Playing Like She’s Been in the League for Decades”: 3x All Star Veteran Heaps Massive Praise on Olivia Miles

The Minnesota Lynx continues to be one of the more formidable teams in the current WNBA landscape, and they may have already found their future cornerstone. In recent years, the Lynx’s success has been attributed to winning records and recent trips to the finals. They have not gotten over the hump of winning it all yet this decade, last winning the WNBA title in 2017. But with rookie Olivia Miles, the team is in position to do so this year.

In an interview on CBS Sports’ all-women podcast, “We Need To Talk”, during this year’s All-Star Weekend, Lynx forward Natasha Howard was a guest for TV personality Alicia Jay. At one point, Howard praised Miles for her poise on the court. For the veteran, she feels that Miles plays so composed that it feels like she has been in the WNBA for quite some time now.

“It’s amazing. Like, the way she play, playing, it seems like she’s been in the league for decades, and it’s only her first year and stuff, and just like her vision is, it’s amazing,” Howard said. (2:30)

Howard and Miles are both having outstanding campaigns in the 2026 season, leading to their selection as All-Stars this year. Howard is currently averaging 15.9 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.8 steals in around 29.7 minutes in 28 games played. For Miles, she is currently the front-runner for the Rookie of the Year award with averages of 19.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per contest.

Natasha Howard shared that her fellow veterans are around to mentor Olivia Miles

After Natasha Howard praised Olivia Miles for the way she has been playing, she shared a message that she always reminds Miles of. Howard shared that she, along with fellow veterans such as guards Courtney Williams and Kayla McBride, is there to uplift Miles whenever she’s not playing at her best. For the 34-year-old, their experience will help Miles learn how to attain success in the long run.

“ I always tell her, like, ‘If you don’t understand something, I’m here for you. Me, Kay Mac’, Court’, like the people that been in the league long enough, like we here for you to pick you up and stuff, ’cause sometimes it ain’t gonna be your night. Sometimes you don’t wanna practice. We here to pick you up. Like we are a sisterhood, and we’re gonna make sure that you good on and off the court,'” Howard shared. (2:39)

Coach Cheryl Reeve’s Lynx squad is currently the top team in the WNBA with an overall record of 22-6.
