The Las Vegas Aces forward NaLyssa Smith shared her true thoughts on dating another WNBA player after her high-profile split from Minnesota Lynx guard DiJonai Carrington. The two players began dating during their college days and even played together for a few days with the Dallas Wings.
Now, it seems Smith has learned from her earlier dating experiences. While in a candid conversation with fans on social media, the forward responded to a question about her choices after breaking up with an athlete. A question popped up on the screen:
“Would you ever date another WNBA player?”
Smith instantly replied:
“No, no, no, no. Absolutely not. I am not gonna lie the next person that I be with, I want them to be a regular person, not famous. Unknown like work in nine to five, all you care about is me, no social media, under like three hundred followers on Instagram, they’re my favorite kind.”
From her reply, it seemed NaLyssa Smith put a lot of thought behind her preferences after she bid adieu to her previous partner, Carrington. Smith first met Carrington on Baylor’s basketball team, as the two youngsters played on the women’s team.
However, the former couple separated after the two WNBA players decided to move in different directions in their lives.
NaLyssa Smith and DiJonai Carrington went through a long breakup
NaLyssa Smith and DiJonai Carrington were one of the most favorite couples in the WNBA. Even though they began their careers with different teams in different years, the couple finally got to play together in the Dallas Wings. However, they played just 18 games together in 2025 before Smith was traded to the Aces.
After their professional separation, Smith and Carrington also distanced themselves in their personal lives. After several rumors on social media about their breakup, in November, the Lynx guard confirmed she was single during a live fan interaction.
The 2026 WNBA season will begin in May after the Aces registered a three-peat of championships in 2025. The team will look to carry the momentum into the next season and extend its domination in the league.
