Lisa Leslie Drops 5-Word Reaction As Retired WNBA Players Set to Earn Upto $100,000

The WNBA made a major move before the season started, finalizing a new Collective Bargaining Agreement that will run through 2032.

Negotiations on the players’ behalf were led by Napheesa Collier as they sought to raise the league’s salary cap, improve player experience and obtain better compensation.

Retired players will also benefit from the new CBA, with those who played for over 12 years entitled to a $100,000 payment.

Lisa Leslie, who played in the league for 12 years, is excited at the prospect.

“When? Asking for a friend?” she commented jokingly on an Instagram post highlighting the move.

According to Front Office Sports, around $14 million will be paid to retired WNBA players who played for five or more seasons. There are over 280 eligible players. Moreover, there are bonuses for former MVPs that will not depend on the number of years they played. If a player won the MVP award, she would be eligible for the $100,000 payment regardless of how much time she spent in the league.
