As the Indiana Fever get off to a turbulent start in the 2026 season, speculations are running wild over Caitlin Clark’s status with the team. Now, a two-time NBA champion is wondering out loud if the Fever have reached a breaking point with their star player.

On Thursday, Mychal Thompson went on X to ask netizens whether they’ve heard the same CC rumor that has caught his attention.

    “Yeah…I hear the FEVER…are ‘SICK’…of Clark…Yall hearin that too?”

Thompson, father of Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson, also urged a certain WNBA team to pursue the two-time All-Star.

“I’m hearing from a reliable source the Fever dont want Caitlin no more…SPARKS…Go get her…NOW!!!”

It’s worth pointing out that Thompson is a color commentator for TWC Sportsnet’s radio coverage of Laker games, which could explain his prodding of the LA Sparks to go after Clark at this point.

After taking the league by storm in 2024, Clark has had her fair share of rough outings over the past year. For one, her sophomore season was riddled with injuries that limited her to just 13 regular season games.

Though Clark had a stellar showing in her senior Team USA Debut this offseason, controversy has hounded her in the early goings of the 2026 campaign. This past weekend, CC went viral as fans buzzed over her heated exchange with head coach Stephanie White, who emphatically asked rookie guard Raven Johnson to take Clark’s seat on the bench during a timeout.

White has since called out the media for “sensationalizing” a coaching moment with Clark. Despite this, it appears that the chatter surrounding Clark’s relationship with the Fever won’t dissipate any time soon.

Ahead of the Fever’s clash against the Atlanta Dream on Thursday, Caitlin Clark acknowledged that many people have checked in on her to see how she’s doing. Clark downplayed any concerns that she was down and out.

“A lot of people have called and asked how I am. I said, what do you mean, I’m great!”

Clark added that she doesn’t get caught up in the rumors swirling on the internet, choosing instead to care about the opinions of her teammates and the Fever organization.
