Chennedy Carter’s recent rant on social media after fans pitched her against the 2026 WNBA draft’s top overall pick, Azzi Fudd, has once again put her in the spotlight. The Las Vegas Aces guard is not new to controversies, as she has had run-ins multiple times in her career. And now, former WNBA player Candace Parker has given her opinion on the polarizing guard.
Carter, who was drafted fourth overall in the 2020 WNBA draft, has missed two full seasons due to suspensions and other controversies. Just seven games into the 2026 season, the Texas native has found another way to get into the conversation. When the Aces played the Dallas Wings, Carter scored 14 points off the bench, while Fudd had a stellar outing with 22 points.
After the game, fans criticized Carter for getting beaten up by a rookie, who was playing her first game as a starter. In response, Carter argued that she was on a leash with the franchise for the season and was waiting for it to get over.
In the latest episode of Post Moves with Candace Parker & Aliyah Boston, the former WNBA star expressed her thoughts on the matchup and said:
“Chennedy also alluded to being on a leash with the Aces, which probably didn’t sit well with Becky Hammon, if I know her very well. That’s tough when you go to social media.”
Hammon is one of the fiercest and winningest coaches in the league. Parker played one season for the Aces under Hammon, where she also won the last championship of her career.
Chennedy Carter has had a good start to the season
Even though her controversies have been immense, Chennedy Carter is also one of the skillful point-getters in the league. The Aces, who already have a championship-contending team with A’ja Wilson and Chelsea Gray, have added someone who can bring a spark off the bench.
Carter, who is averaging 17.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.3 steals, has had an impact on both ends of the floor. She played her best game against the Connecticut Sun, where she scored 27 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Chennedy Carter is uncertain for the Aces’ next game against the Golden State Valkyries due to leg and hip injuries. She missed her first game of the season against the LA Sparks, in which the team registered a win, 79-69.
