Several analysts have voiced concerns about Caitlin Clark this season after her verbal spats with officials and even the Indiana Fever head coach have come to light. Analyst Dan Dakich is one of them. In his earlier statement, the analyst openly backed Fever HC Stephanie White and her coaching style, while berating Clark for being a “diva.”
After Dakich’s take went viral, another analyst, Jason Whitlock, who has often supported Clark, called out Dakich for not standing with a young player. Whitlock wrote a post on X and accused the fellow analyst of labeling the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year as a “diva” and joining the “flock” of journalists criticizing her.
However, Dakich clarified his stance in the latest appearance on his show, DON’T@ME, and claimed that he had people inside the Fever organization who had told him that Clark was a “diva” in the locker room. The analyst said:
“I don’t get this out of the bathroom wall and take a piss and say ‘you know what Caitlin Clark is a diva,’ I talk to people inside the organization. I have people everywhere, I do, I mean you cant make fun of me whatever but I do. And what I am telling you is 1000% true.”
Dakich accused Whitlock of riding the wagon and getting views on social media. He stated that Steph’s “system is great,” and the only problem the team had was the stars. The coach, on the other hand, has supported Clark throughout the ordeal and said that the two were just “competitive” and there was no ill will.
Dan Dakich dismisses Caitlin Clark’s comparison with Michael Jordan and others
In the aforementioned video, Dan Dakich was seemingly on a crusade to prove Jason Whitlock wrong. He addressed Clark’s comparisons drawn with the likes of Michael Jordan and Larry Bird and stated that those players have won big time with their organizations.
Dakich said:
“He mentions Michael Jordan, he mentions Bird, he mentions Magic. All those won at incredible levels with those guys. Fever haven’t won s*** with Clark.”
It’s still too early for Clark to be compared to the legends of the sport, as she is in her third season in the pro league. However, her talent and skill level are second to none, and that’s why fans await the superstar to come up big in her next game after a dismal offensive run lately. The Fever will now face the Atlanta Dream, as Clark aims to return in her bag.
