“I Know What I’m Capable Of”: Caitlin Clark Delivers Defiant Statement After Career-High 45 Points

In her first three seasons as a WNBA player, Caitlin Clark has achieved one milestone after another. On Friday, the Indiana Fever star surpassed her personal scoring benchmark when she put up a career-high 45 points in an 110-107 win over the Seattle Storm.

After hearing naysayers casting doubt on her capacity to thrive in the WNBA, Clark had an air of confidence when asked to comment on her new career high in the post-game interview.

“It’s cool. I don’t really care. I know what I’m capable of, and I know what this team is capable of.”

Clark, who dished out 10 assists, emphasized that it’s her job to make the Fever “the best team in the WNBA,” something that she feels they haven’t achieved yet.

Against the Storm, the Fever squandered a 17-point lead in the first half and relinquished control of the game in the third quarter.

Though Jade Melbourne and Natisha Hiedeman did what they could to keep the Fever at bay in the final frame, Clark would not be denied, getting buckets to go while also setting up her teammates.

With the game tied at 102, Clark hit a step-back jumper from the left wing to give the Fever the lead for good. The three-time WNBA All-Star iced the game with four straight free throws in the dying seconds.

“They Would Get an Earful”: Caitlin Clark Comments on Defying Minutes Restriction in Win Over Storm

In the post-game media availability, Caitlin Clark was asked if a minutes restriction was still in place for her during the Fever-Storm game.

With a smile on her face, Clark said Fever coach Stephanie White and the team’s trainers wouldn’t have dared to take her out of the game in the last 10 minutes.

“Steph knows better than that. The trainers know better than that. They would get an earful.”

According to Clark, she assured White at halftime that she “felt good.” Clark also stated that she trusts the work that she’s put into her body at this point.
