Dan Dakich Rips Into Critics While Explaining Sophie Cunningham’s Shoe Deal Following Jemele Hill’s ‘Attention’ Remark

Analyst Dan Dakich has made another big statement, this time about Sophie Cunningham and the debate over her player-exclusive shoe deal with Adidas. The Indiana Fever forward is set to launch her shoe on July 24, and there have been widespread talks about whether she deserved such a big achievement, usually bestowed upon superstars. Now, Dakich has brought his argument.

Dakich is popular for his honest and blunt takes on basketball, especially the WNBA. Earlier, he criticized Caitlin Clark for getting into an altercation with her head coach, Stephanie White, and also slammed WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert for her lack of leadership. This time, he has shared his thoughts on Cunningham.

Addressing the debate about a bench player getting a shoe deal with Adidas, Dakich claimed:

“She has a shoe because companies are in business to make money, and Sophie Cunningham is the face currently of the WNBA because she is smarter than you, she is smarter than all of you, she understands what she looks like and if that’s being white, blonde and attractive, that’s what she looks like, that’s what god gave, she’s worked on her body, she’s a pro basketball player that understands modern social media.”

Earlier, Jemele Hill and Cari Champion on their Thursday episode of “Flagrant and Funny w/ Cari Champion & Jemele Hill,” talked about Cunningham getting the deal. Hill expressed that it was rare to “see someone whose career average is 8 points per game receive this level of attention.”

Cunningham’s viral finger-pointing gesture against the Phoenix Mercury’s DeWanna Bonner became the talk of the town, and personalities from almost every section of society addressed it in some form. Even then, calling her the face of the league might be taking it too far.

American author predicts a political future for Sophie Cunningham

Sophie Cunningham has been in talks for various reasons, and American author and essayist Chuck Klosterman suggested she could do well in politics as well.

Appearing on The Bill Simmons Podcast, he painted a bright political future for the forward:

“Sophie Cunningham … I’m going to say 2050, is going to be vice president of the United States. I don’t know what party she’ll be in. I don’t know anything about her political views. But she will be the vice presidential candidate, at least the candidate.”

For now, Cunningham would have to think about her current profession, as the Fever need help to perform consistently and register some wins to instill confidence in the squad.
