The Chicago Sky are looking to shift to a new arena soon, but their plans have seemingly hit a roadblock. The facility was originally scheduled to be launched in December 2025. Wintrust Arena has been the home arena for the franchise, but there have been several issues, such as limited accessibility and spoiled fan experiences. And it seems fans would have to wait longer to see the new Bedford Park facility.
Sports reporter Colin Salao shared that the arena might take some more time to be completely ready for the team. Until next season, the Sky would practice at Wintrust Arena. The Front Office Sports reporter wrote:
“The Chicago Sky will practice at Wintrust Arena for the season instead of moving to their new facility, GM Jeff Pagliocca said.”
Fans were not happy with the new update about postponing the shift, as one wrote:
“Sell the team”
Another fan was furious at the news and demanded:
“He need to get fired”
One more fan commented in the same tone:
“Jeff Pagliocca has to go”
Another fan was not happy with the postponement:
“Oof yikes”
This user took a dig at those supporting the management:
“Oh the loyal Jeff supporters gotta have egg on their faces right now”
Another said:
“Stevie Wonder couldve seen this coming”
The general manager, Jeff Pagliocca, also confirmed that the renewed deadline for the new facility would be November, in time for the 2027 season. The Chicago Sky is not a big-market team, which means a new facility would be a big help for the franchise to grow in the league.
Chicago Sky’s Skylar Diggins remains out for the fourth consecutive game amid starting lineup controversy
Skylar Diggins is set to miss the fourth consecutive game since the management announced a change in the starting lineup with the return of Courtney Vandersloot. The latter was sidelined since the start of the season due to a torn ACL.
Before the Sky meets the LA Sparks in their next game, the team announced Diggins’ continued absence.
For now, head coach Tyler Marsh and management seem to be taking it slow with Vandersloot, given that Diggins is out, allegedly due to a right knee injury. However, fans have speculated that there might be some other reason behind her absence.
