Amid a string of analysts giving strong opinions on Caitlin Clark’s recent emotional outburst, Indiana Fever reporter James Boyd has backed the Iowa native. The team’s head coach, Stephanie White, and the elite guard had a viral, heated exchange on the bench. However, the analyst believed that her emotions were because of her thirst to win games.
Talking about the Fever’s last win against the Golden State Valkyries, where she had an intense matchup with Tiffany Hayes, Boyd shared his conversation with the HC after the game. Steph mentioned that Clark’s emotions, whether they’re towards players or officials, were because of her “insatiable thirst to win,” and she would not take that away from her.
The analyst said:
“With Caitlin, she is not always a nice teammate, or a nice person to referee, or a nice person to coach because of her edge. But the edge is what makes her special.”
Even though Steph found herself on the receiving end of Clark’s emotions against the Portland Fire, the PG clarified that the two were just in a competitive space and nothing goes off the court. Reiterating her trust in the HC, the guard stated that the team was a close group, well supported by their head coach.
While several analysts like Cari Champion, Dan Dakich, and others have called out Clark for venting out on the coach and refs, a few have also supported her during this difficult phase. Given the skillset she possesses, it’s only a matter of time until she proves her naysayers wrong on the court.
“It’s inhumane,” Paige Bueckers shows support for Caitlin Clark amid media attention
Caitlin Clark, in her conversation with the media, called out the analysts and writers who blow such moments out of proportion without any significant detail. The media and fans have been on a spree of speculations about her and Steph’s relationship after the recent fallout. Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers was also asked about her opinion on everything happening around the superstar.
Bueckers backed her rival and said:
“I would just say she handles it with grace. And the pressure she’s put on every single night to perform at the level that she does. It’s inhumane, really. Like to expect people to be perfect and not have off games of off nights. If she doesn’t go for like 8 for 10 from three, people are questioning things.”
Caitlin Clark and Co. will get ready to face Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream in the next game, as the Fever badly needs a win. The stage will be set for the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year to play a statement game against a longtime rival. However, the Dream has been on a winning run to start the season.
