The Indiana Fever just had a night to forget. The Portland Fire had a blowout victory over Caitlin Clark and co. They completely dominated the game to win 100-84. Megan Gustafson had the most points on the court. She had 22 points scoring 8-8 from the field.
Emily Engstler for Fire also had a night to be proud of. She had double-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks. Carla Leite also had a double-double with 18 points and 12 assists. It was a complete team performance as three more players had double digit points. Bridget Carleton with 14, Sarah Ashlee Barker with 15 and Frieda Buhner with 10.
On the other hand, Fever choked under pressure and could not compete. It was a rather embarrassing night for Caitlin Clark. We are accustomed to watching her dominate the court in every game, but today just did not seem like her day. She scored only 6 points shooting 1 of 7 from the field. She got 6 assists but her three point shooting was also off as she only scored 1 out of 2 attempted threes. On top of that, there were 2 instances where Caitlin and coach Stephanie White yelled at each other.

“Caitlin’s yelling at the team, she is yelling at the bench. Then Stephanie White starts, she’s yelling at her. And watch she’s yelling at Stephanie and she quits on the play. Watch this, right over her head. Quits on the play and then the body language, it’s ridiculous.”
“You know, I love Caitlin but she is way too involved in yelling at her teammates, telling the team what to do. It’s really her only weakness, being so worried about what everybody else is doing but not focusing on the game,” Caitlin fan narrated the video in frustration.

That yelling to and fro from the fourth quarter wasn’t the only instance when Clark and coach White had an animated exchange during the loss vs Portland. During a timeout Stephanie White was passionately yelling at the team, with Caitlin Clark right in front of her. She had her tactics board with her and seemingly conveyed the next plan.
Caitlin Clark shook her head and had both her hands up suggestively disagreeing either with White or something that happened on the court. She then stood up as White called Raven Johnson to explain her part in the remaining game. As Caitlin stood up, she was visibily agitated and kept shaking her head “no”.
There’s no way to confirm what either of the two said for sure unless Clark or White actually explain the exchange. One thing that really did stand out was that neither Clark nor White were remotely happy with tonight’s game.
