“Just Stick to Caitlin Clark Giveaways”: Fever Fans Done With Team for Collaboration With Dawn Staley’s Gamecocks

Caitlin Clark-led Indiana Fever announced a collaboration with Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks on Sunday. On June 27, when the Fever host the Los Angeles Sparks, Indiana will include a free, exclusive hat featuring the logos of both teams with every ticket purchase.

The Fever roster includes league-high four players from Staley’s program, including Aliyah Boston, Tyasha Harris, Raven Johnson and Bree Hall. A collaboration of such caliber makes complete sense for the Fever to engage with the Gamecocks, who are an out-of-state NCAA team.

However, several Fever fans weren’t excited about this partnership. Most have been fatigued with Indiana signing several Gamecocks players. Meanwhile, others have issues with the Fever not collaborating with inter-state universities.

Hey @IndianaFever! No one cares about the South Carolina Gamecocks. Just stick to Caitlin Clark give aways,” one fan said.

“At this point, they might as well rename the team the Indiana FeverCocks,” another wrote.

“The Fever and the WNBA in general, have a sick obsession with South Carolina man…,” one fan added.
“Haha, honoring a school not even in the state of Indiana, can’t make this stuff up,” one fan said.
“I swear the Fever have the worst PR team in the WNBA,” another wrote.
“Forever pull for Ty, AB, and Ray but….no thank you,” one fan added.

Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever record three straight wins as Atlanta Dream test awaits

The Indiana Fever have seemingly rediscovered their form over the past week with three straight wins. Although those came against lowly teams like the Washington Mystics, Chicago Sky and Connecticut Sun, for a team that couldn’t find any chemistry whatsoever, those were meaningful results.

It would give them tremendous confidence ahead of the back-to-back blockbuster against the Atlanta Dream on Thursday and Saturday. Before that, on Tuesday, Caitlin Clark and Co. will face the Toronto Tempo, giving them a solid chance to extend their streak to four wins and improve to 9-5.

In the Fever and Dream’s first matchup this season on June 4, Indiana won 83-71, snapping a two-game skid. Kelsey Mitchell scored a game-high 25 points on 11 of 15 shots, while Caitlin Clark had 17 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Aliyah Boston added 19 points, seven rebounds and three blocks.

Clark’s rival, Angel Reese, had a subpar outing with just 11 points, 10 rebounds and four turnovers on 4 of 9 shots. Reese has won just once in six games against Clark and will be keen to put together one of her best performances to get her second pro win against the former Iowa star.
