Caitlin Clark was voted as the All-Star starter for the third consecutive season, but her player ranking did not impress Candace Parker. While the Indiana Fever guard was second in fan voting and third in the media ranking, she was voted 11th best in the player ranking.
On her YouTube show “Post Moves with Candace Parker & Aliyah Boston” on Wednesday, the legendary player-turned-analyst called out the players for their voting and demanded a change in the voting process:
“I wholeheartedly believe that there needs to be some rules with the WNBA players ‘CAUSE this is getting out of hand.”
Parker also called out the players’ insecurity with Clark and referred to her playing time. She added that even though she had many talented rivals like Maya Moore and Diana Taurasi, whom she didn’t like, she would always vote for them in the All-Stars:
“I think people need to look at themselves in the mirror and realize, ‘Hey, you got some insecurities if you sitting down and putting Caitlin Clark as the 11th-best guard.’ You’ll need to go to a therapist and figure out what issues you have.”
Even though Caitlin Clark has had a tough time shooting this season, she is still one of the WNBA’s elite point guards. However, her production has taken a hit with Fever coach Stephanie White’s offensive strategies. Meanwhile, she is nursing her back issues and is not playing.
Analyst gives an optimistic update on Caitlin Clark’s return
After the Indiana Fever’s practice on Tuesday, Indiana Fever insider Chloe Peterson provided an optimistic update on Caitlin Clark’s return against the Los Angeles Sparks on Wednesday:
“Caitlin Clark says she’s optimistic about playing against the Sparks tomorrow, assuming she feels good after practice today.”
The Fever have back-to-back matchups against the Sparks and the Phoenix Mercury, and the team might monitor her playing time because of her back issues.
