Former FS1 news editor Tanya Ray boldly claimed that Caitlin Clark became popular because of Angel Reese. Ray was responding to a fan’s “hot take,” who claimed that Reese would have made the WNBA just as popular as it is now even if Clark didn’t exist.
“That’s not even a hot take,” she wrote. “Angel Reese made Caitlin Clark popular.”

Ray also clapped back at another fan who called her take “delusional.”
“This is not gonna go the way you want it to go, champ,” she said.
Ray admitted she’s been a fan of Angel Reese since the star forward joined the Atlanta Dream. She personally supports the Minnesota Lynx, but the Phoenix Mercury too, because her husband has been a fan for 14 years. Ray said her favorite player of all time was Maya Moore.
The former FS1 employee said she doesn’t get to talk about the WNBA as a fan as much since she primarily covers men’s sports. However, Ray has been active since Wednesday’s incident between Caitlin Clark and Alyssa Thomas, in which the Mercury guard pressed down on her counterpart’s throat.
The referees didn’t review it in real time, but the WNBA punished Thomas with a one-game suspension for her actions. Tanya Ray and several other anti-Clark fans united online to call out the Indiana Fever superstar’s mistakes that led to this incident, while also defending Thomas, saying she wasn’t in the wrong to deserve a suspension.
Thomas has also faced severe scrutiny from the media and Clark’s supporters, so Ray is doing her bit by joining people on the other side of this controversy.
Caitlin Clark suffers an injury setback after tough physical blows in clash against Alyssa Thomas and Mercury
Caitlin Clark has suffered an injury setback after Wednesday’s intense clash against the Mercury. Aside from the incident with Alyssa Thomas, there were a couple of plays in which Mercury players undercut Clark, and she took hard falls on the floor.
It was one of the reasons why she couldn’t continue playing beyond the five-minute mark of the third quarter as the Fever ruled her out with a back injury. The ailment has bothered her since the start of the year. Clark has been listed as probable for nearly every game over the past month because of the injury.
The injury absence will extend as Fever coach Stephanie White announced on Friday that Caitlin Clark was out of Saturday’s clash against the Los Angeles Sparks. She didn’t have a clear answer on how long Clark would be out for, but sounded optimistic that she could return for the next game on Jul. 5 against the Las Vegas Aces.
