Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride is arguably having the best campaign of her WNBA career in the 2026 season. Through the 27 games she has played this season, McBride is averaging impressive numbers of 18.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.6 steals in around 32.3 minutes per game. Along with this, McBride continues to be one of the best three-point shooters, making 39.4% of her attempts.
“Also for those that are so concerned, I received a half[expletive] invite to the Three-Point Contest through my agent in a text randomly 48 hours ago…Not officially. Sooo posting things like I’m afraid of shooting smoke is weird and if you didn’t hear it from me, prob shouldn’t believe it. We should focus on the great shooters in it already!!! Because there’s some killas in there,” McBride wrote.
“Good luck to all those participating and when y’all start doing shooting contests coming off pin downs, hit me,” she concluded.
McBride’s response comes after New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu did the same in an interview on the same day. In the aforementioned post, Ionescu was also said to have declined an invitation to the Three-Point Contest. The former Oregon Ducks standout then asserted that she was not invited to the contest despite being the reigning 2025 champion.
Napheesa Collier spoke highly of Kayla McBride’s recent performances
Kayla McBride’s teammate, perennial All-Star Napheesa Collier, has taken notice of the McBride’s recent string of great performances. In a post by Lynx insider Andrew Dukowitz on X, Collier said during her media availability that McBride has been putting the team on her back, which has helped them secure the top seed in the Western Conference. Collier recently made her season debut against the Seattle Storm.
“Mac had really put us on her back, this tear she’s been on has been so clutch, the aggression, the shot making, the playmaking, on both sides of the floor…Obviously she’s a huge reason I want to get back on the court too, like Mac looks like she’s having so much fun. I want to get out there,” Collier said. (0:00)
Over her last eight games, McBride has been averaging a team-high 26.8 points per game.
