Azzi Fudd’s prospects of being the top overall pick in the 2026 WNBA draft have fluctuated significantly in recent days. Several rumors suggested that the Dallas Wings, who have the top pick, might not be looking to add another guard to the lineup. However, the latest odds have once again signalled a shift in the scenario.
As per FanDuel, Fudd is currently favored to be picked at the No. 1 spot with the odds of -450. The list is followed by Awa Fam, Lauren Betts, Olivia Miles, and Flau’jae Johnson, in that order.
Fudd’s performance during NCAA March Madness has been the major argument behind her falling stock. She averaged 14.4 points and 4.2 assists in that stretch, dropping from her season average of 17.7. points. Meanwhile, her college chemistry with Paige Bueckers might lure the Wings to pair the two guards.
The two guards played together for the UConn Huskies for four seasons and collected some major accolades, including an NCAA championship in 2025. Fudd and Bueckers are also dating each other off the court after the Wings guard made it official during the 2025 WNBA All-Star weekend. Even former NBA player Carmelo Anthony backed drafting Azzi Fudd with the top pick.
Carmelo Anthony urges Dallas Wings to draft Azzi Fudd
On an episode of his podcast, 7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony, the former New York Knicks forward shared his views on the Dallas Wings selecting Azzi Fudd with their top overall pick this upcoming draft. He said:
“I would do that because it’s proven. You know what I mean, it was like a one-and-done situation. It’s proven over four years, we know how to play together, we know how to win, we know each other… They are two of the smartest basketball players out there, you talk about high IQ type of players.”
Azzi Fudd and Paige Bueckers’ off-court chemistry has translated well on the court. It seems only natural for the Wings to test that chemistry in the league as well. Only time will tell if the two will get reunited in the WNBA.
