Steve Sarkisian has been making some bold statements about former Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss as a program.
Most recently, during a conversation with USA Today on Tuesday, Sarkisian spoke about a major issue in the college football world, the academics side of a player’s life.
Sarkisian pointed out that he thinks many programs have forgotten that fewer than 5% of college football players actually end up playing in the NFL, making the academic issue a big one.
The Texas head coach then boasted about the Longhorns’ process of taking only 50% of a player’s academic credit hours during a transfer and took a jab at Ole Miss by saying the Rebels could take a player however they want, insinuating that all one needs for a degree from Pete Golding’s program is basket weaving.
“What a b*tch Sark is.” one fan reacted
“Like Sark has anything to do with transfer admission standards at the university 😂 that decision is way above his pay grade. Since he can’t change it, that must mean it’s prestigious!.” Another fan wrote.
““At Texas, we will only take 50% of a player’s academic credit hours. You may be a semester from graduating, but you’re going all the way back to 50%” This is ridiculous. Have fun losing.” Another fan commented.
“U can say the same exact thing about bama where he used to be a coordinator and they’ve won multiple national championships. He knows damn well his players at Texas don’t go to class and get everything done for them so they’re eligible.” Another fan pointed out.
“He thinks he’s cooking Ole Miss, but in reality, this just made it easier for Ole Miss in the portal. Anyone who thinks transfer players are concerned about getting a degree are delusional. It’s just about the bag.” Another fan highlighted.
“The head coach at Texas is having to make excuses. That 12 step should have taught him excuses are just that.”
Steve Sarkisian Offers Injury Update on Arch Manning
Many fans and analysts expressed their concerns about Steve Sarkisian’s Texas not taking care of Arch Manning’s foot injury.
During a conversation with Craig Way on Tuesday on AM 1300 The Zone in Austin, Sarkisian said that people overreacted to the whole Manning situation.
Sarkisian further explained that Manning had a foot issue that they had to fix but didn’t want to do last year before or during the season; hence, they waited until the year ended.
“He could have been back in spring practice probably in week three. But he’s in year four in our system, so him throwing 7-on-7, him throwing routes on air, and that getting KJ (Lacey), Dia (Bell), and MJ (Morris) more opportunities to get accustomed to playing systematically for us.” Sarkisian said.
Sarkisian further assured fans that Arch Manning is fine and said that the Texas QB looks great.
