Tommy Paul on Qualifying for The Miami Open Quarterfinals

Tommy Paul squared off against Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the Miami Open’s Round of 16 on March 24. Delivering a strong performance, the American claimed an impressive 6-1, 6-3 win over the Argentine player, advancing to the quarterfinals.

Following this victory, he sat for a conversation with the Tennis Channel, where he made his feelings known about the game, stating that he and his team did a good job during the game. He also opened up about how his training worked out for him.

“Woke up feeling pretty good, you know, I like to say that we trained for five sets. So three sets should be easy. But yeah, I mean, we did a good job as a team, you know, recovering and doing the ice bath massage treatment, doing all that stuff. So yeah, I felt pretty ready to go today,” said Tommy Paul.

Sharing the details of his ice bath training, he added:

“Like eight minutes. eight minutes, 8 to 10 minutes. I think that’s like optimal for recovery. I think like the 2 to 3. I think that’s like, you know, a wake-up good for your mind kind of deal. I mean you don’t feel anything after three.”

Tommy Paul opened his 2026 season at the Brisbane International, where he suffered an early loss in the first round against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
