Carlos Alcaraz’s brother, Jaime Alcaraz, light-heartedly expressed his jealousy after the Spaniard met Lamine Yamal following Spain’s FIFA World Cup victory.
Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 after extra time on Sunday at the New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford with an attendance of 80,663 fans. Immediately after the win, Alcaraz and Yamal shared an iconic meeting on the pitch.
Pictures of their meeting later surfaced on Instagram through a fan page, where they were seen hugging each other and posing with the World Cup.
Jaime Alcaraz reacted to the post, stating that he was jealous of their meet-up. He commented:
“What envy😡”
Carlos Alcaraz is preparing for his reported return to action at the Cincinnati Open in August, following a four-month layoff due to a right wrist injury. He has been sidelined since April after suffering from right wrist tenosynovitis during his opening match at the Barcelona Open.
The injury derailed Alcaraz’s season after a strong start, which included winning the Australian Open to complete the Career Grand Slam.
When Carlos Alcaraz opened up about his bond with his brothers
In a July 2024 interview with Diario AS, Carlos Alcaraz spoke about his relationship with his brothers, Alvaro Alcaraz, Sergio Alcaraz, and Jaime Alcaraz. He said they enjoy watching him play but do not see him as a famous tennis player. The Spaniard added that his older brother simply treats him like his younger sibling and that the family celebrates his achievements as if they were their own. He said:
I think they enjoy watching me. My achievements feel theirs. They are supporting me every day. They see me as the older brother, not as the famous tennis player who has been number one or who has won Grand Slams, but as the older brother that I have to take care of them and Álvaro sees me as the little brother that I am,” said Carlos Alcaraz.
He added:
“And that’s beautiful and that’s what I want from them, that they don’t see me as the tennis player but as the usual person and the little brother.”
He further spoke about what he enjoys the most when he returns home. Revealing how his family brings him calm, he said:
“Being at home calm, with my people. Without doing much because in the end at home I enjoy not doing great things, but the simplest and most natural is what characterizes me and enjoy the most. It’s what I miss the most. Being at home quietly with my family and friends.”
Carlos Alcaraz opened the 2026 season at the Australian Open, where he defeated Novak Djokovic to nab the title.
