Serena Williams has found herself in the middle of drama shortly after her return to tennis, as her former teammate Sascha Aleksander Bajin revealed the reason behind leaving her. His statement sparked wild speculations all over the internet, guessing the third person behind their split.
After staying away from the spot for almost four years, Williams has now made a comeback and will be competing at the HSBC Championships in her first appearance. While she is gearing up for her comeback, her former teammate, Bajin, revealed the reason behind their split in 2015. He worked eight years with the American from 2007 to 2015 as her primary hitting partner and also was a confidant.
He played a crucial role in helping Williams win 13 Grand Slam titles and also usually credited her for building his career. They parted ways in 2015, and now a decade later, he recently shared an appreciation post for Williams for her comeback. Taking to Instagram, he posted a bunch of old pictures and videos with her, penning a caption that read:
“For me you were never gone. I never believed you were truly done and I couldn’t be more excited to see you compete again. Just please please don’t let it be against us in a way. Singles or doubles doesn’t matter. lol! I want to watch you and cheer you on. Welcome back G.O.A.T.”
Reacting to this, one of the fans said that they should have never left each other ,and responding to the fan, Bajin opened up about the real reason behind their split, writing:
“I would have never left her if it wasn’t for a certain individual. But things happen for a reason and it’s ok. She did well without me.”
This comment sparked wild fan speculations, who stated that the ‘certain individual’ might have been Williams’ former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou. One of the fans commented:
“Which individual? Patrick?”

Another follower on Instagram wrote:
“@bigsascha yeah this clout chaser Patrick. He uses her name left and right to get relevant. REACH OUT TO HER, if she can still move properly, she can do big.”

Blaming Mouratoglou for the split, another user wrote:
“Best duo ever! We all knew Patrick was the reason you left.”

Along similar lines, another fan chimed in with their speculations:
“Serena started working with Patrick in 2012. Her now husband Alexis came into the picture after Sascha’s departure in March of 2015, Serena first met Alexis in May of 2015. The only person that came in and disrupted the team was Patrick who turned out to be an awful coach outside of Serena, he failed with every pro player he attempted to coach. He failed to evolve her game and acted more like a fan than an actual coach. He has also used Serena’s name for clout ever since then.”

Why did Serena Williams choose competing at the HSBC Championships for her comeback?
After months of speculations, Serena Williams has finally confirmed her return to tennis with a video on her Instagram with Nike. After the announcement, the HSBC Championships confirmed that she will be making her comeback at the women’s doubles tournament while playing alongside Victoria Mboko. The tournament is slated for June 8 to 14, 2026.
Amid this, she sat for a conversation with the tournament officials, revealing that the Queen’s Club feels like the perfect place for her to start.
“Queen’s Club feels like the perfect place to begin this next chapter. Grass has given me some of the most meaningful moments of my career, and I’m excited to be back competing on one of the sport’s most iconic stages,” said Serena Williams.
Serena Williams initially retired after competing in the 2022 US Open, where she fell short of advancing further than the third round.
