After reaching the WTA 1000 Dubai Open final on Friday night, Jessica Pegula gave a hilarious reply to an online troll mocking her for not winning enough silverware. A social media post revealed that Pegula has reached the semifinals of every tournament she has played in since last year’s US Open.
Despite the consistency, the 31-year-old has nothing to show for it, as she is without silverware. Her last singles title came at the WTA 500 Bad Homburg Open last June.
On Friday, Pegula defeated No. 2 seed Amanda Anisimova in the Dubai Open semifinals. This was Pegula’s second win over Anisimova this year, as she sealed a thrilling come-from-behind win to advance to Saturday’s final.
In a now-deleted reply to the above-mentioned tweet, a user wrote:
“How many converted to titles?”
Pegula replied:
“0 my friend. Dubai is pending.”
The World No. 5 reached the semifinals at the Brisbane International and the Australian Open, and is still searching for her maiden silverware of 2026.
Jessica Pegula Reveals Chronic Knee Issue While Discussing Recent Consistent Form
Ahead of her Dubai Open semifinal against compatriot Anisimova, Pegula addressed the media, where she touched upon many topics, including her consistent form over the past six months and a chronic knee issue.
“My coaches and I worked on a lot of stuff to get my game back, to emphasize what I do really well, kind of get back to the true roots of my game, just make that even better and more efficient. I think I’ve been serving a lot better. Physically been feeling good. Moving better again,” Pegula said.
“I think I had a little bit of a chronic knee thing that’s been back and forth since probably over a year ago. That’s been feeling a lot better. There’s a lot of things. But honestly been working on my game a lot. I think I’ve become a better player over the last six months,” she added.
Pegula is set to face an in-form Elina Svitolina in the Dubai Open final on Saturday night. The Ukrainian dispatched Coco Gauff in the other semifinal on Friday.
