Tennis legend Serena Williams has fueled comeback rumors once again with her latest TikTok video. In the video, Williams is seen practicing her serve during a training session. The 23-time Grand Slam champion entered the drug-testing pool in August 2025, sparking comeback rumors.
As of February 22, Williams will be eligible to play in WTA tournaments, as that would mark 6 months on the anti-doping list. While many speculated that Williams would partner with her older sister, Venus Williams, for the ATX Open, which starts on February 23, the 44-year-old quashed those rumors, as she has yet to announce whether she is really making a comeback this year.
Williams’ latest social media post showcases the tennis legend placing the camera at the base of the net while she walks to the baseline to practice her serving. Williams hasn’t played a competitive match since retiring from the sport after her third-round loss to Ajla Tomljanovic in the 2022 US Open.
Williams has been open about taking the GLP-1 weight loss drugs from Ro since stepping away from court. The 44-year-old has lost 34 pounds in about a year since she started taking the medication. For the first time in her life, Williams, as the patient ambassador of Ro, was featured in an exclusive ad for GLP-1s, which was aired during Super Bowl LX.
Serena Williams Shared the Changes in Her Body Since Taking GLP-1s
In an exclusive interview with TODAY, Williams shared her journey with GLP-1s. “Sometimes, no matter what you do, no matter how many steps you take, how many miles you run, you just can’t get over that hump. I know that for a fact. As a woman, as I age, I definitely couldn’t get over that hump,” Williams said.
Then, while sharing the health metrics and how her blood sugar levels and cholesterol have decreased from 2021, Williams said, “Some of these numbers are from when I was literally winning Grand Slams. So it wasn’t like I was just playing tennis. I was dominating.”
Furthermore, sharing the risk of being diagnosed with a cardiovascular disorder, which remains the No. 1 cause of death in America, Williams said, “I was at risk for heart disease, and I didn’t even know that. That’s kind of scary, and that’s the No. 1 thing that kills Americans. So I could have been a statistic.”
Williams concluded by saying that GLP-1 inhibitors have helped her shed those extra pounds, allowing her to move more freely and have more energy to work on her tasks throughout the day.
