Rodman had accompanied Shelton to New Zealand in January, where he played at the ASB Classic. While the duo spent some romantic nights in Auckland, Rodman had to travel back home just before the opening day of the Australian Open to participate in the maiden USWNT training camp of the year.

Most recently, Rodman was courtside for Shelton’s triumphant run at the Dallas Open, attending both his semifinal and final matches. After winning the ATP 500 event in Dallas, Shelton was quick to go to the players’ box to hug Rodman as they celebrated the title win.

Ben Shelton Made a Surprising Withdrawal Announcement from the Mexican Open

While the tennis fraternity would have been expecting Shelton to give a tough fight to his rivals at the ATP 500 event in Acapulco, starting February 23, the American made a surprise announcement by pulling out of the tournament just days after winning his maiden ATP title of the year in Dallas.

After withdrawing from the Mexican Open, Shelton will now play in the first Masters 1000 event of the year at Indian Wells, which is set to feature all the top names in men’s tennis. The 23-year-old will be aiming to better his record against top-3 in ATP events.
