Emma Raducanu Handed Huge Seeding Advantage For Wimbledon After Impressive Queen’s Club Final Run

English tennis star Emma Raducanu has earned a significant seeding advantage for Wimbledon, all thanks to her impressive run to the Queen’s Club final. Raducanu is now in line for a top 32 seeding, which could hand her a more favorable draw at her home Grand Slam.

Raducanu began her Queen’s Club campaign from the Round of 32 and reached the final without dropping a single set. First, she took on Anna Blinkova and got a 6-0, 6-3 win, followed by a 6-4, 6-2 win against Romania’s Sorana Cîrstea. She then defeated Kamilla Rakhimova in the quarterfinals, 6-3, 7-5, and just a few hours later, beat America’s Iva Jović in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, in the semifinals.

Emma Raducanu will now take on Croatia’s Donna Vekić, who beat local favorite Katie Boulter in straight sets in the semifinals, for the title on Sunday.

As the Brit prepares for her third tour-level final, her run at the Queen’s Club until now has already boosted her seeding prospects for Wimbledon, with Raducanu rising to a live ranking of No. 31. This puts her in line to secure a seeded spot at the upcoming Grand Slam, which could help her avoid facing tougher opponents in the early rounds.

Winning today’s final will also hugely benefit the Brit by moving her into the world’s top 30 ahead of Wimbledon. Still, if she decides to show up at the Nottingham Open as a wild card entrant, she can climb even higher in the rankings with a deep run.

Emma Raducanu Talks About Being Proud of Making it to the Queen’s Finals

After defeating Iva Jović in straight sets in the semifinals, Emma Raducanu sat down for a press meet where she thanked the people of London for their support and expressed joy and pride at having made it to the finals:

“It means everything to be making the final here and to be making it at home in London. I love London; it’s my home, it’s where I grew up, it’s everything to me, so to be receiving the amount of support that I do here its very emotional, and yeah, I’m just really proud of myself,” she said (0:35).

With her semifinal win, Raducanu has become the first English female tennis player to have reached the Queen’s Club singles finals in 56 years.
