German tennis star Eva Lys received support from Danielle Collins and Amanda Anisimova after she shared her bold remarks on her social media activity. During her recent conversation with fellow WTA player Ajla Tomljanovic on Tennis Channel, she opened up on the extent of social media abuse.
Lys recalls how she was often told to be professional when it comes to handling her social media accounts so that she can attract sponsors. But Lys doesn’t care and posts every type of content without minding on how many are watching it.
“You know, everyone was telling me, ‘Oh, if you want sponsors, you can’t be posting that,'” Lys said. “And you know what posts I’m talking about. I was always kind of boycotting that view because I was like, ‘Hey, I want to post what I would post if I had 20 followers. I don’t care how many people are watching me. I just want to be myself.'”
Unlike many other tennis players, even including those she looked upto, Lys’ life is not limited to tennis.
“And I feel like that’s one thing I was always missing from big players I looked up to,” Lys continued. “You know they’re good tennis players. You know what they do on court and in practice. But what do you guys do outside of that? What hobbies do you have? It’s such a common concept that a tennis player is just playing tennis and not doing anything else. I feel like it’s the same with every job. You need your hobbies. You need your balance to stay, like I always say, sane.”
Under the comments section, both Anisimova and Collins shared their warm support, asking Lys to continue being herself.
“I’m here for all your posting @eva.lys ❤️🔥” Collins commented.
“Periodddd @eva.lys,” Anisimova wrote.

What Eva Lys Does With Social Media Haters?
Ahead in her conversation, Ajla Tomljanovic asked Eva Lys what action she takes against haters. Instead of ignoring or staying away from social media, Lys blocks them all, eradicating the negative environment from her profile.
“I block. I block religiously,” Lys said.
Lys recalls telling her parents how much hate she received upon losing in the first round. She revealed some suggestions she got from those haters.
“Usually, they’re telling me I should spend less time on Instagram, do fewer photoshoots, less of this, less of that, and focus more on practice,” Lys said. “And every time I get a comment that’s targeted at me, I block. I mean, people can hate on me. People can hate on their own page. People can, I don’t know, make articles about me, I don’t care about that. But if you’re coming onto my page, I’m going to block and block and block again and report it.”
Lys sustained a hyperextended right-knee injury during the United Cup, which has kept her out of the tournaments so far.
