Not Even Jet Lag Can Stop Coco Gauff From Publicly Celebrating NASA’s Historic Moon Mission

As one of the most historic moments of NASA unfolded live, Coco Gauff celebrated the nation’s feat while showcasing her keen interest in space exploration, drawing reactions from fans online. The NASA spacecraft Artemis II, carrying four astronauts, Christina Koch, Victor Glover, Jeremy Hansen, and mission commander Reid Wiseman, splashed down on Friday at the California coast in the Pacific Ocean.

After completing a nearly 10-day journey, which took the astronauts 252,756 miles away from Earth, they successfully completed the re-entry, which was a key test for the Orion capsule. As the world watched NASA achieve yet another milestone, Gauff too tuned in to witness the spectacle. The young tennis player, who traveled right before the live streaming of the iconic moment, took to Instagram to share her struggle yet commitment to her fascination. Gauff also highlighted her love for anime, giving a reference of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners series.

“Jet lag chronicles but this was really cool to watch. I want to go to the moon like Lucy and David but you’re not nerdy enough to understand that,” she wrote.

Coco Gauff Makes Her Feelings Known After Receiving Backlash Over Her Appearance For Brand Shoot

Coco Gauff recently made an appearance in a photoshoot for the Italian luxury brand Miu Miu to promote the new Vivant leather bag, where she was seen in a red polo shirt and a dark blue sports skirt. She posed holding a bag, while her hair was tied in a sleek bun. However, she received huge fan backlash.

The American tennis player stood up for herself, saying she is not sorry for how her hair looks and that she wants girls with same hair feel confident.

“I personally don’t like to slick back my hair super sleek, because it does damage my hair,” Gauff said. “I do play tennis, so most of the time I’m wearing it in a bun. I have (curl type) 4C hair… That’s just not good for my hair. I’m not going to apologize for the way that my hair looked. There are other girls who have the exact same hair as me, and I just want them to see and feel represented. My hair was good enough for a high-fashion brand like Miu Miu to promote one of their newest launches. So if my 4C hair was good enough for that, yours is good enough to do whatever you need it to do.”

Coco Gauff will make her next appearance at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix (Stuttgart Open), which will kickoff on April 13.
