Coco Gauff, Kim Clijsters & Others Fuel Lindsey Vonn’s Comeback As She Resumes Intense Training Despite Winter Olympics Injury

Coco Gauff, Sabine Lisicki, Kim Clijsters, and others across sports are sending their morale-boosting messages to American Alpine skier Lindsey Vonn, who suffered an ACL tear just days before the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Games. Despite the serious injury, the 41-year-old is refusing to back down and has begun her high-intensity rehab.

Vonn shared a video of her training session, wearing a support brace on her left knee, lifting weights, and doing the other necessary exercises to recover in time for her events in Italy. The caption on her post read,

“I’m not giving up 💪🏻 working as hard as I can to make it happen! Thank you to my team and everyone for your incredible support. Keep believing 🙏🏻❤️”

Gauff, Clijsters, Lisicki, Ilona Maher, Allyson Felix, and other big names from the sporting world were quick to drop their encouraging comments for the Olympic champion, rallying behind her and wishing her a speedy recovery in time for the Winter Games.

Vonn is a four-time World Cup overall champion, placing her third in the all-time winners list. She also won gold in the downhill event at the 2010 Vancouver Games and won two bronze medals, one in Vancouver and the other in Pyongyang (2018), taking her Olympic tally to three medals.

The American ski racer made her World Cup debut at 16 and is still going strong, breaking records and inspiring the younger generation across various sports. Gauff too takes inspiration from the legendary skier and aims to bring some consistency to her gameplay in 2026 after a dissapointing stint at the Australian Open.

Coco Gauff Aims to Redeem Herself in the Upcoming WTA 1000 Events

After the quarterfinals loss to Elina Svitolina in Melbourne, Coco Gauff had a little outburst in the players’ backup area at Rod Laver Arena, which went viral on social media. While her anger was justified, the American lacked authority and finesse on the court, which led to her thumping loss against the Ukrainian.

Ultimately, the 21-year-old also took a tumble down the rankings, going out of the top 4 for the first time in more than a year. Now, Gauff has set her sights on the next WTA 1000 events in Doha and Dubai during the Middle East swing to climb back up the rankings and notch some wins against the top names competing there.

Gauff is slated to play in three consecutive WTA events in Doha (February 9), Dubai (February 16), and Indian Wells (March 2).
