Carlos Alcaraz Makes Surprising Announcement About Brother Alvaro Amid Ex-Coach Juan Carlos Ferrero Drama

After winning the 2026 Australian Open, Carlos Alcaraz has made a surprising announcement regarding his coaching staff. Earlier, he parted ways with former head coach Juan Carlos Ferrero before kicking off his Australian Open campaign. Samuel Lopez is currently acting as the main coach in his camp.

Alcaraz, who has become the youngest male in ATP history to complete a Career Grand Slam at the age of just 22, shared that his brother Alvaro will be his main coach at several ATP events this year. Alcaraz added that whenever Lopez is not available, his brother will take the reins.

“At some events, my brother will be the only one traveling with me,” Alcaraz told Marca. “It’s clear that Samu will accompany me to the most important tournaments of the year and to 80% of everything I play, or more, but my brother will be alone at some.”

At the same time, there’s new drama from Juan Carlos Ferrero as the former coach has now unfollowed the World No. 1 on Instagram.

After the controversial split, Ferrero has interviewed with several publications to share the details regarding his departure as head coach, reiterating that it was not because of money but some other details in the contract. Many thought Alcaraz wouldn’t be able to do well without the head coach with whom he has been learning since his teenage days.

However, the Spaniard shut down everyone by beating Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open finals.

Carlos Alcaraz Speaks Highly of His Brother Alvaro

Carlos Alcaraz has always spoken highly about his brother Alvaro’s role on his team. He has shared that his brother brings positivity that helps him perform better on the court.

“My brother is a very important person in my personal and professional life,” the 22-year-old told the Spanish media. “He brings me many positive things that I need to perform better on court and in tournaments. Now he’s going to take on more prominence alongside Samu [Lopez]. I’m happy to see him in the box, more involved, because he brings me a lot.”

There was also a lighthearted moment coming from both brothers when Alvaro accidentally cut Alcaraz’s hair before the 2025 US Open, leading to the Spaniard getting his head shaved.
