“Deleted Twitter for a month, came back today, and got instantly reminded why I should not be on here lol :/” Gauff wrote on X.

While Gauff reached the Miami Open final, she lost to World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. The American will have a mountain of points to defend in the fast-approaching clay season, where she flourished last year.
Coco Gauff Received Support From Nick Kyrgios on Her Racket-Smashing Incident in Melbourne
In an exclusive interview with Tennishead, Nick Kyrgios reflected on numerous aspects of women’s tennis. From placing the GOAT title on Serena Williams to voicing his opinion on a possible five-set game length in women’s tennis, Kyrgios addressed many topics.
Towards the end of the interview, the Australian was asked about the racket-smashing incident involving Gauff, which was blown out of proportion on social media. The 22-year-old American had vented her frustration after losing the Australian Open quarterfinal to Elina Svitolina, but was unaware that the cameras were recording her racket-smashing moment.
“Look, for the sport to grow, it needs access—but not into every inch of our lives. There needs to be spaces where we can get away, relax, and let off some steam without being crucified for it. I stand with Coco; I think she did nothing wrong. She loves the game and showed how much it meant to her—what’s the issue?” Kyrgios said.
Gauff will resume play on tour at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart from April 13 onwards, followed by the WTA 1000 Mutua Madrid Open, starting April 20.
