The sports icon Wayne Rooney, who is a British footballer and coach, made his feelings known about Serena Williams, revealing why he thinks she is the GOAT. He highlighted her raw personality in her docuseries.
Williams released her HBO docu-series in 2018, named ‘Being Serena,’ where she showed candid moments with her daughter, embracing her role as a new mother. In the series, one of the scenes showed her wearing a bra with pump shields and tubes while preparing for a match. Along with her skills on the court, this iconic moment is still talked about by several sports personalities, including Rooney.
The $170,000,000 worth sports icon recently sat for a conversation with the BBC, where he weighed in on where Serena Williams ranks among the greatest sports stars of all time. Opening up about the qualities of the American, he called her ‘inspiring’ and spoke about the breastfeeding moment in her documentary.
“I just think Serena Williams is really inspiring. I think especially to women as well. I really like to watch the documentary she’s done and you know the fact that she’s breastfeeding before she’s gone out to play in the matches and, and all of what you said about the culture of all the barriers here and Venus had to breakdown. To get to where they got to as well, it was really inspiring, and what she’s achieved, I think it’s 23 major titles, she’s won and there’s so many top tennis players, but for me what Strainer’s done I think is incredible,” said Rooney.
When Serena Williams Speaks on Her first Daughter, Olympia Ohanian
Serena Williams welcomed her first daughter, Olympia Ohanian, on September 1, 2017. Ever since then, her daughter has always been the center of her conversation, and in 2020, she sat for an interview with Essence, where she opened up about her daughter, revealing how she’s very particular with her food, even if she was just 10 months old.
“She’s very clean. She needs that handled straight away. She’s also really particular about her food. She’s only 10 months, but I can tell that she loves things to be clean. I know that sounds weird, but she loves things to be clean…already,” said Serena Williams.

She added:
“Well, every moment…every morning when she first sees me, she squeals. Every day, I’d come home from one of my matches and Wimbledon, and she’d just squeal each time she’d see me. I’d try my best to rush home, and I’d miss her still. It’s like nothing I’ve ever heard before—the best thing I’ve ever heard.”
Serena Williams gave birth to her second daughter, Adira River Ohanian, on August 22, 2023.
