“Carlos Alcaraz Shouldn’t Have To Explain Himself” – Fans Defend World No. 1 After Criticism About Behaviour Towards Team At Monte-Carlo

World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz issued a clarification about his viral comments directed towards his box during the Miami Open, ahead of the Monte Carlo Masters. During his third-round match against Sebastian Korda, Alcaraz appeared visibly upset and frustrated, and he eventually lost in three sets.

Alcaraz had a rough stretch in the Sunshine Swing, suffering his first loss of the season against Daniil Medvedev in the Indian Wells semifinals and then being defeated by Korda in Miami. In an exclusive interview ahead of his title defense in Monte Carlo, Alcaraz said that he has had time to reflect and regrets saying certain things to his box during a tough run in Miami.

Tennis fans jumped to the reigning Australian Open champion’s defense, with many stating that it was neither necessary nor required for Alcaraz to issue any clarification or apology for what he said to his box during a match, as that is just part of the natural flow of a game.

“This is literally ridiculous. He shouldn’t have to explain himself,” one fan commented.

“He owes them no explanation,” another fan commented.

“It’s laughable how they made a mountain out of a molehill. The most “extreme” thing he said in the middle of the match was that he wants to go home. Why is there even a discourse over this?” yet another fan commented.

Another fan stated that the issue was blown out of proportion because some of his own fans raised concerns over a normal comment during the Miami Open match. Moreover, another fan gave Alcaraz a positive suggestion, something Samu Lopez had also stated earlier: never show your opponent how you are feeling during a match.

“I mean, some of his own ‘ fans’ were amplifying it and making it a big deal. Can’t do the same thing and expect it not to get out of your little bubble,” one fan commented.

“As much as I support him always, I think his having tantrums on court is not good for him simply because it gives his rival an advantage, Samu said the same thing. The rival should never know how you are feeling. ” That’s all,” another fan commented.

“I wish Carlos would shorten his answers. Be a little less open with the media, because his honesty must be draining when he’s asked the same question over and over. Something like “it’s in the past, we learn and move on,” next question,” yet another fan commented.

Carlos Alcaraz to Begin His Monte Carlo Journey From R3

Alcaraz will commence his title defense in Monte Carlo in R3 on Tuesday. The Spaniard is placed in the top half of the bracket and will face the winner of the R2 match between wildcard entrant Stanislas Wawrinka and Sebastian Baez. Alcaraz could face Grigor Dimitrov in the R16.

Subsequently, the Spaniard could set up a potential quarterfinal clash against either Alexander Bublik or Jiri Lehecka, and could face Alex de Minaur or Lorenzo Musetti in the semifinals. In the Monte Carlo finals, fans could finally be treated to a Sincaraz clash for the first time at a competitive event this season.
