Sinner opened his Miami Open campaign on March 21 against Damir Dzumhur. After defeating him in straight sets, he contested against Corentin Moutet and Alex Michelsen to progress to the quarterfinals. After besting Tiafoe in this round, he is now geared up to meet Alexander Zverev in the semifinal round on Saturday.

Recently, the world No. 2 was accused of copying Carlos Alcaraz’s celebration mechanisms on court by fans after his win against Michelsen. Sinner was seen putting his fingers behind his ears, signalling the crowd, which is usually done by the Spaniard on the court.

Jannik Sinner Opened up About His Aims After Winning Against Frances Tiafoe

After capturing an impressive win in the quarterfinal of the Miami Open against Frances Tiafoe, Jannik Sinner sat for a conversation with the media. While talking about the ins and outs of the showdown, the Italian also opened up about his aims of improving his game on the court.

Revealing how he would continue to improve his game, he said:

“I’m aiming to continue to improve, you know. I think that’s the most important. That’s what I practice for, you know, just to hit balls. I’m not, you know, I try to improve seeing what works better.

“We have some good results in certain shots. Some we need to slightly improve obviously going now to clay, it’s going to be a little bit different. There is how you play tennis. It is different, so you know also physically you need to be ready to to compete and that’s it.”

    He added:

“So yeah I think that what I’m doing, it’s positive you know. I try to develop in a good player and yeah so you not taking away, you know, the results. I try to feel better and better every day, you know, I go on court. So, there always has to be a reason and behind everything, you know, not to do just to do it.”

Jannik Sinner opened his 2026 season at the Australian Open, where he lost to Novak Djokovic in the semifinal.
