“Jannik Sinner Has No Charisma” – Carlos Alcaraz Fans Make Fun Of Italian’s ‘crowd-pulling’ Ability After Miami Open Incident

Jannik Sinner and Frances Tiafoe played their quarterfinal match in the 2026 Miami Open with almost no one to see. While the World No. 2 easily defeated Tiafoe to advance to the semifinals, his crowd-pulling ability was questioned by netizens on the internet.

With just 10 minutes to go before Sinner’s match started, tennis journalist Jose Morgado shared a picture where plenty of empty seats can be spotted. This suggests the fans were not interested in watching Sinner or Tiafoe, for that matter.

Some fans pointed to Sinner’s drug test failure last year, for which he was suspended for a limited time.

“Sinner has no charisma. What do you expect?” one fan said.

“Imao… no one wants to watch Sinner. And what they did regarding his 2 failed drug tests has made many fans turn away from the sport. What’s the point of sport if the favourites are constantly being protected, and it’s not fair anymore? It just becomes pointless,” one fan commented.

“We need to have honest conversations at some point. This isn’t coming from bias, but Jannik Sinner isn’t really a natural crowd-puller. His crowd pull usually depends on three things: the location, whether it’s a true tennis city, and who his opponent is,” another added.

“Well, high temperatures, high humidity, early match (1:00 pm) on a work day. That, along with high ticket prices=empty stadiums,” another reacted.

Some fans shared that since World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz has already been eliminated from the tournament, the crowd is no longer interested.

“Cause there is no Alcaraz so no one is interested,” one fan added.

“See what happens when you have no Alcaraz! 😆🤭” one fan wrote.

Jannik Sinner Makes Masters History at Miami Open While Crushing Frances Tiafoe

It took Jannik Sinner just 71 minutes to defeat Frances Tiafoe as he conceded zero break points while breaking Tiafoe’s serve on four different occasions. The comfortable 6-2, 6-2 win extended Sinner’s sets streak to 30 in a row at the Masters event. This includes his Paris Masters campaign, followed by the Indian Wells Masters and now here at Miami.

However, this is not the only milestone for Sinner. The Italian has become the first man in Miami Open history to reach four semifinals in his first five appearances at the tournament. Sinner reached the quarterfinals in 2022, became runner-up in 2021 and 2023 and was the 2024 Miami Open champion. He did not contest last year due to a three-month suspension.

Last but not least, Sinner is the first man since the first edition of the Miami Open 41 years ago to win 14 straight matches without dropping a single set across the Sunshine Double.
