“Classless & Arrogant” – Jannik Sinner Accused Of ‘Copying’ Carlos Alcaraz By Fans After Miami Open Win Over Alex Michelsen

Jannik Sinner faced trolls after fans accused him of copying Carlos Alcaraz’s on-court celebration mannerism after beating Alex Michelsen at the Miami Open. Fans went as far as to call him ‘classless,’ and more.

Sinner is currently competing at the Miami Open, and his latest outing came on March 24 in the Round of 16 against Michelsen. The Italian registered a 7-5, 7-6(4) victory. However, apart from the win, the moment that captured the fans’ attention was his celebratory action after winning.

He was seen putting his finger behind his ear, which is usually done by Alcaraz on the court. A picture of this moment has been making the rounds all over the internet, as one of the users posted it on X.

This captured a lot of backlash from the fans, as they accused him of copying Alcaraz’s mannerisms. One of the fans wrote:

“OMG he’s touched his ear like Carlos does. How arrogant! What a copycat! He’s trying so hard to find a personality😂”

Mocking the Italian, another follower commented:

“Carrots will call Carlos classless and arrogant when he points his finger to his ear meanwhile their fave.”

Pointing out how Sinner’s fans called out the World No. 1 for similar action as ‘classless’ and ‘arrogant,’ one of the fans wrote:

“I don’t understand, his fans told me this was classless and arrogant and he never did that (although he has done it before)?”

Highlighting the same point as above, another user commented:

“IDC how Sinner or anyone celebrates during their matches, but I know about the classist shit that’s said about Alcaraz when he celebrates this way.”

Along similar lines, a few other fans chimed in:

“Whether he did it in front of an injured Carlos or a half empty stadium, his manchild coddling compatriots never called it arrogant. The double standard is hilarious, maybe they think this guy lacks the aura for it to even matter.”

    Another one wrote:

“Where’s all the people that were calling this celebration unclassy?”

Sinner will now compete against Frances Tiafoe in the quarterfinal of the Miami Open.
