Ben Shelton gave a surprise shoutout to his girlfriend, Trinity Rodman. At the same time, World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz couldn’t keep the list to just three names as the tennis pros answered a fun-filled question about which three celebrities they would want in attendance to watch them play at Indian Wells.
Some of the responses by the players were as follows:
“Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, and my girlfriend [Trinity Rodman],” said Shelton.
“Cristiano Ronaldo, Cenral Cee, and Lil Uzi Vert,” Taylor Fritz said.
“Steph Curry, Lindsey Vonn, and Gianluigi Donnarumma,” Jannik Sinner said.
“Leonardo DiCaprio, Islam Makhachev, and Sting,” Alexander Bublik said.
Alcaraz went last and couldn’t contain his list to just three names:
“I have a lot. Cristiano Ronaldo, Lebron James, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Lionel Messi, Leonardo DiCaprio, Will Smith.”
Most of the responders, except for Shelton, are still in the fray to challenge for the title in Indian Wells. The reigning Dallas Open champion suffered a shock defeat at the hands of fellow American Learner Tien in the third round on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz is set to face Arthur Rinderknech in the third round on Monday. Sinner will go toe-to-toe against Joao Fonseca on Tuesday, Bublik will take on Rinky Hijikata on Monday, and Fritz will battle Alex Michelsen later that day.
Learner Tien Praises Ben Shelton’s Fighting Spirit Despite Not Feeling 100% In Indian Wells 3R
Ben Shelton was not feeling his best self ahead of the third-round match against Learner Tien on Sunday. The American had earlier complained of being ridden with a mysterious flu-like virus that had been causing a major stir at the BNP Paribas Open.
After his win over Shelton, Tien addressed the issue while applauding his fellow Americans’ tenacity and willpower to keep fighting in the contest.
“It’s great. It’s great. I just want to say, Ben came out not feeling 100 per cent. I don’t think he’s been feeling great all week, but he’s an amazing competitor, and he came out and gave it his all. So I just want to say, huge props to him. I’m super happy to be in the fourth round,” Tien said.
While Tien advanced to the Round of 16 and will play Alejandro Davidovich Fokina next on Tuesday, Shelton will aim to shift focus to the Miami Open and hope to make a better run in the final event of the Sunshine Double, starting on March 16.
