Ben Shelton has made his Halle Open debut a memorable one by acing his way to the quarterfinals, and his girlfriend, Trinity Rodman, did not hold back from letting her excitement spill all over her social media. The USWNT star tuned into the Round of 16 match of the Halle Open and celebrated Shelton’s win with a sweet three-word message.

Ben Shelton is currently swinging hard at the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle, Germany, after a dominating win at the Stuttgart Open just days prior. Since winning the title at the Boss Open, Shelton stepped onto the OWL Arena and beat Lorenzo Sonego in two sets in the Round of 32 before defeating fellow American Ethan Quinn 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 in the Round of 16.

As Shelton prepares for an instant rematch against his Boss Open final opponent, Taylor Fritz, his girlfriend, Trinity Rodman, took time out to celebrate his current run in Germany by posting an Instagram story with a message.

    “New Lucky Charm (Celebratory Emoji).”

Rodman’s playful message comes just days after Shelton called her the “lucky charm” that helped him bag victory at the Stuttgart Open. Rodman was present at the final of the Boss Open last week, where Shelton rocked Fritz for the win.

What Happened In Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz’s Stuttgart Final

Ben Shelton beat Taylor Fritz in three sets to win the Boss Open title, winning his first grass-court tournament, which has now set the stage for a rematch at the Halle Open’s quarterfinals.

At the Boss Open final, Fritz dominated the serving stats, blasted 14 unreturnable aces, and had the upper hand for most of the match. Shelton, however, emerged strong in the later parts of the match and, in the deciding third set, was finally able to break Fritz’s serve at 4-4 after Fritz committed a few errors. Shelton then won the game with an unreturned serve, prevailing 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

Shelton currently leads their head-to-head with a 3-1 record, but Fritz will now get another opportunity to avenge his defeat after having defeated Zizou Bergs and Fábián Marozsán in his first two matches.

If Shelton manages to once again get past Fritz, he will be just two wins away from becoming the first male tennis player in history to win both German grass-court championships in the same season.
