Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian is working on his team’s roster for the next season. Sarkisian made some incredible additions to his unit this year, including wide receiver Cam Coleman, in hopes of making a title run.
Sarkisian joined the program in 2021 and had some success in 2023 and 2024. However, he is yet to deliver what was expected from him, and this year the Longhorns are going to leave no stone unturned to achieve that.
The Longhorns’ head coach recently had an elite company at the Texas facility. Super Bowl winner and the Giants quarterback, Russell Wilson, visited the Longhorns facility with his kids, and Sarkisian gave them a tour.
His wife, Loreal, posted pictures of her husband with the $185 million worth star (as per ‘Celebrity Net Worth‘) and his kids on her Instagram story. Wilson’s wife, Ciara, couldn’t join them, and Loreal posted a sweet note for her on one of her stories.
“I had a fun time hanging out with you and Future @dangerusswilson We missed you and the girls @ciara,” she wrote.
Last season, Sarkisian had one of the strongest rosters in the country. At the beginning of the season, they were considered one of the title contenders. With Arch Manning taking over as their starting quarterback, it seemed like the Longhorns were going to pull it off.
In addition to that, Manning was being mentioned among the early Heisman favorites for the season. However, the Longhorns and Manning couldn’t live up to those expectations. The Longhorns failed to make the playoffs.
They played and won the Citrus Bowl, which stands as their only noteworthy accomplishment from last season.
Steve Sarkisian on Building His Team
Sarkisian has been coaching for over two decades and has had head coaching stints with the Washington Huskies and the USC Trojans. Despite the experience, there’s one aspect of team building that he still finds very difficult.
He said that having a roster full of good players is the easy part for a coach. There’s a lot of talent out there, and a good coach can pick the best from that lot for their team. However, it’s making the players work as a unit that makes a coach’s job truly exciting.
“I touched on that with the team (in January). I looked around the room, and I said, ‘We’ve got a very talented group of individuals in this room, and now our job is to become a really talented team’,” he said.
As difficult as it might be at times, Sarkisian believes that he has done a great job at developing a culture within the program this year. He is confident that it’ll provide the results that the Longhorns fans have been looking for.
